Have you felt being stuck songwriting with guitar?
Have you had an urge to write with alternate tunings but didn’t know how to get started?
Are you looking for different ways to spice up your songwriting and guitar production?
This course is for the beginner to intermediate guitar player that struggles with playing outside of the box and who are looking for ways to enhance playing with different guitar tunings.
I have felt that too, and I have a course that will help you. For years I was looking for material to get started writing with different guitar tunings but I found it hard to find anything. As a result I conducted research regarding what and why some songwriters use different guitar tunings, and from that I published a thesis in Finnish:“Vaihtoehtoisten kitaran vireiden käyttäminen työkaluna kappaleiden teossa” (Alternate Tunings as a Tool for Songwriting). This thesis is all about basic, simple tools and song examples where various tunings have been used.
During my master’s studies at the Royal Academy of Music in Denmark I spent two years applying everything in practice. During my first year, my album “Isolation” was released; and it already had songs written with an altered 7 string tuning and the first, new open tuning to me. As my final project, I wrote 9 songs for the album “Truthseeker” with 5 different guitar tunings during the last year of my studies.
You can do this, too.
Within the course you’ll experience theoretical information and background about different tuning groups (and so much more) that I wish I knew once I was getting started with alternate tunings. We’ll also deep dive inspiring chords from each tuning I’ve personally used and demonstrate the use of the tuning with some of the songs I’ve written to give you real life examples for songwriting. Because I know that songwriting may be a bit challenging with this approach, you’ll also be supported in different ways to use these tools to build an actual song.
Additionally, you’ll have access to a Facebook group where you can share songs written with the strategies provided and gain insight from fellow songwriters and guitarists. We learn better together!
I hope to see you in the group–investing in yourself is the most important thing you can do.
